A day at the spa – Hakunamatata

We spent the morning at Hakunamatata Spa last week and it was a wonderful relaxing experience.
The venue: The spa is situated along the bottom of Beyers Naude and is close enough to be easily accessible but far enough away to be isolated and tranquil. Everything about the venue is neat and well looked after. All the restrooms were immaculate and the spa, while small is well presented and has a very homely relaxed feel.
The treatments: We all had 4 treatments – a fully body hot rock massage, an Indian head massage, 15 minutes in the sauna and a fully body exfoliation treatment. I love the hot rock massage so having a fully body massage was amazing. The head massage was extremely relaxing, they don’t only rub your head but also your shoulders and upper back – if you have tense shoulder muscles it really is relaxing and the fragrance of the sandalwood essential oil I chose stayed in my hair for 3 days afterwards. The exfoliation was probably my least favourite purely because I am don’t really love having lotions and potions on my body but I will say that my skin was super smooth afterwards.
The staff: There was a team of 6 ladies with a “team leader”. They were all extremely professional and polite the entire morning. They explained each treatment and answered all the questions we had. I really liked that we each got a lady who did all our treatments
The food: While we waited for everyone to arrive we had tea/coffee and muffins which went down well. Lunch was a choice of 4 foods (which apparently does vary) and 4 desserts. I had the sole with baby potatoes and vegetables and fruit salad for dessert. It was the perfect way to end the day. It was a delicious meal. The other ladies in the group had lamb chops – which made me a little sorry I didn’t order that as they looked amazing and calamari which was also apparently perfect.
The cost: We didn’t have to pay for the morning so I am not sure what it cost but I did get a copy of their price list and their prices are really competitive. They have a large range of packages including mom and daughter, couples, pregnancy and a “get together” one for friends which I am considering doing for the Ladies on Lunch
My only criticism was the fact that we had to change and be naked with people we didn’t know. It was a work event and I really did not feel comfortable being that naked around people I work with. If you are with your best friend/mother/partner then it is fine
Apart from that though the morning was perfect and I would go back in a heart beat!
