Project – Collect-a-Pram
Posted on 02. Feb, 2010 by Laura in Charity
A friend of Davids is a newly qualified OT and is currently working in a government clinic near Tembisa, Midrand. She works with mainly children and a large number of those children have cerebral paulsy, so they are unable to walk.
They have just been told they will not be receiving any of the cerebral paulsy buggies or wheelchairs.
The main issue with this is that the mothers (and sometimes siblings) now have to carry their children to the clinic for their treatment – if you have a child you will know that very quickly they become too heavy to carry and some of these kids are 7/8/9 years old.
So she has started a drive to get people to donate their old prams – ideally the stroller type ones, but any pram will be fine too, so that it is easier for the moms to get the children to the clinic for their therapy.
You can mail me on laurakallmayer@gmail.com or find me on twitter if you would like to help out.
If you have an old pram or know of someone who has one they want to donate then please let me know – between Bronwyn, David and I we can arrange to have them collected from you.
We have managed to get 8 so far – THANK YOU to the ladies who have donated!
